Charlie's chair on the back porch

Tuesday, October 19, 2010

I just saw a painting by Cezanne of apples, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This is

my tribute. I'm thinking of it as Cezanne's apples.

When I went to NYC recently I wanted to
find a scarf like this. I didn't. But when I
got home, I found it at Target!

/Sorry to be so long in posting. This is me on the steps at the Metropolitan Museum of Art

This is a fuzzy cardinal on the birdbath. He was
enjoying a dip on this hot day.

Check out Harriet with her "wheels" on the

first day of senior year!

Monday, August 23, 2010

I call this painting "Into the Woods". I did it

after seeing the movie Coco and Igor. Her

French country house had lovely woods where

they took walks.

In case you didn't see my new hammock painting on my other site, here it is again.

Tell me if you like the colors.

Wednesday, July 14, 2010

These acrylics are 36 x 48 and are to be hung side by side in a beach house in North Carolina.

I hope they are "juicy" enough. My theme this summer seems to be hammocks. I'm thinking next of a hammock strung between palm trees with beach in background.

I'm practicing my roses. Such fun to do.

4th of July clouds

Wednesday, June 30, 2010

The oil spill and tar on our beautiful white beaches reminds me of the little bit of sand I
collected from the Sahara. It stands beside the lapis lazuli baboon I bought in Cairo.

Happy Days!

Monday, June 14, 2010

Harriet says this is the spot she gets first dibs

on for summer reading. Yep, if only it wasn't so HOT.

When I was 4 or so, we lived on my grandfather's farm
for 6 months. This was the nearest store. Mama
bought me my first nailpolish here at the Blackman
store. I revisited it 70 years later, on Friday.

The Wisteria has grown up through the floorboards
on the back porch, wrapped around the chair and
climbed up to the ceiling.

My friend Jake, painting Easter eggs.

Aren't these wonderful shutters? Shutters are good for lots of moods: keeping things in, keeping things out.

My house with dogwood blooming. I pretended
that I live in the country.

Spring Fling

Tuesday, March 16, 2010

Little Known Fact:

Easter is the first Sunday
after the first full moon
after the spring equinox.

Saturday, March 13, 2010

My new "spring" painting, with lots of yellow and spring flowers.

Quite a powerful wind we had this morning. A shutter blew open and banged against the side of the house. I, believe it or not, performed a circus trick. I drug a chair to the shutter, but needed another 2 feet of arm to reach the latch. There was a bamboo pole nearby, with a hollow in the top. By lifting the latch and placing it over the eye, after 10 tries and a lot of bad words, I managed to have the latch drop right into the eye!!! WOW.

Two teeny paintings with part of my geranium tea set.

Saturday, March 6, 2010

Many years ago I did this watercolor portrait of Virginia Woolf. A lady bought it because it looked just like her daughter. I wonder where it is now.

Friday, March 5, 2010

A new painting. Isn't it pretty!!!!

Wednesday, March 3, 2010

These are my "TWINS". Bought in Ormond Beach 45 years ago. 35$ for the pair.

The yarns I'm using in my 60" x 80" tapestry.
It's a five year project.

P.S. It was 28 degrees today in Moscow.

Saturday, February 27, 2010

A wet Saturday morning in my back yard.
It's Camilia time.

Thursday, February 25, 2010

New version. What do you think? OOPS, the fence is crooked.

Wednesday, February 24, 2010

I'm working on this outdoor scene today. I plan to take out the poplar's and put instead, a big, colorful oak tree, and neaten up the iris. Irises???

Tuesday, February 23, 2010

Some of my best friends.

Thursday, February 18, 2010

Judith Amanda took this photo of a Kodiak bear skin rug, which would take up half my living room in front of the fireplace. It is huge, and has shiny claws, and is actually friendly looking.
If I could have him, I would give him a Russian name, like Vladimir, or Vlodowsky.

Monday, February 15, 2010

If you go to see Crazy Heart, be prepared to see a lot of Jeff Bridges belly.
I wanted to buy one of these fabulous books, in Urgup in Cappadocia, but the proprieter said they were too expensive for me, and written in old Arabic, which even the new Arabians couldn't read!

Friday, February 12, 2010

Sorry, I didn't get a photo of the big fluffly snowflakes mixed with rain here today about 2 o'clock in the afternoon. It's very cold. Lots of snow 10 miles to the north. 49 of 50 states had snow today. Wow.

Thursday, February 11, 2010

Jerry's supper picked fresh from his
garden.

Wednesday, February 10, 2010

I got this box of rocks at a thrift shop 24 years ago. On one of the neatly cut pieces of the frame is scratched the signature: E. Lloyd. Wouldn't you like to know who E is? Elizabeth? Ethan?

Monday, February 8, 2010

My favorite pub in Saffron Walden, Essex, where

I spent many a happy hour, with a glass of

guiness in front of a wood fire. It is a 500

year old building with rabbit warren rooms

just between shopping in the Market

Square and home at the Coach House.

Saturday, February 6, 2010

Yesterday's sunset, from my front porch.

Friday, February 5, 2010

Today Little Black, the cat, cried, and wouldn't eat even though there was food in his dish. I think he didn't like the possoms coming to dine out of his bowl in the night, on the porch. I gave him a clean bowl with fresh food and he gobbled it up and was happy.

My portrait of Monet. I wish I
had it back.
